The Guide to Profitable Blogging was originally released in e-book format to ProfitBlitz newsletter subscribers. It’s now been converted to be publicly available on the site.
I’ve been earning a living by working online full-time since 2008 and the only regret I have is that I didn’t leave my previous full-time job earlier. Although I’ve been able to make a six-figure income each year except my first, I’m always looking for ways to improve my efficiency and to learn new things from the experience of others. Over the years I’ve purchased a number of books and e-books on blogging that made big claims about teaching how to earn a living, or how to make six figures from blogging. While some of those books and e-books did deliver quality content, I’ve always been disappointed about the lack of good information about actually making money with a blog.
Most of the books I’ve read spend a lot of time covering topics like what a blog is, why blogging is a great way to make money, how to choose the right blogging platform, and how to set up your first blog. If you happen to already have a blog set up and you’re looking for guidance about actually making money, the first half of these books are basically useless to you.
The rest of the content about growing a blog and making money then gets only a quick look with very little detailed information because there is so much to cover in a limited number of pages. I always found it disappointing to buy a book or e-book from a highly successful blogger only to have most of the book focusing on very general content with little insight into how they actually go about earning a living from their blogs.
In this e-book I want to focus on those important details that, in my opinion, are often not covered in enough depth. The content about getting your blog set up is important too, but I feel that is a separate topic that should not take away time or emphasis from other things like building your blog’s readership and monetizing the blog.
I’ve set up a few pages at ProfitBlitz to cover the process of getting your blog set up. If you’re new to blogging these will be important pages for you to visit. If you’ve already got your blog set up, the good news is that without needing to cover those details in this book we can move on and jump right in to the good stuff. About half of this e-book is dedicated directly to the topic of making money with your blog.

Since you’ve made the effort to download this e-book I know that you’re interested in making money online. I commend you for taking the step to learn more and I encourage you to stay persistent in your journey towards achieving this goal.
Blogging for a living, and making money online in general, provides an amazing opportunity to change your life, but it can be quite a challenge. The problem isn’t that it’s too difficult for most people to achieve. What I have seen over the past several years is that most people simply don’t have the discipline, patience, or persistence to make it happen in their own lives. I’ve seen so many people, some family and friends, start a blog with expectations of being able to leave their full-time job or at least earn a nice part-time income. However, almost all of these people have given up at the first hint of a challenge.
Unrealistic expectations are a killer to many blogging dreams. Building a successful blog takes time and effort, and a smart approach. Most successful blogs didn’t make any money for several months, and in some cases a year or more. Most people aren’t willing to put in time and effort without seeing some immediate results. If you’re able to focus on the long-term and resist the urge to expect an income for the first few months, you’ll be able to build a solid foundation for your blog without being frustrated by not making money right away.
Another challenge for new bloggers is the vast amount of information and the inconsistency of advice that’s out there. How do you know whose advice to take? The truth is there are a lot of talented and experienced people who are offering advice and guidance for making money online. However, there are also people who have never made any money online attempting to tell others how to do it. Separating the pretenders from the real experts is not always easy. The best advice that I can give you is to simply get started. I’ll attempt to provide as much valuable information in this e-book as possible, but the fact is you’ll always learn more by doing than by reading. I’m not saying you shouldn’t read or study about making money online, but don’t do it at the expense of actually getting out there and trying it for yourself.
I’ve made every effort to ensure that the information provided in this e-book is accurate (at the time of publishing), clear, and not misleading. However, I cannot guarantee that all of the information is correct and up-to-date at all times.
